Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is an ancient text from India. It’s a treasure trove of wisdom, offering 112 techniques to help seekers achieve a state of Samadhi through the practice of dharana.

What is Vigyan Bhairav Tantra?

The Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is an ancient text from India outlining 112 techniques to transcend time and space and achieve a state of Samadhi through the practice of dharana.

The term "Vigyan" refers to science, which explains how things work through experimentation and empirical evidence. "Bhairav" represents the all-encompassing, eternal consciousness that pervades everything in the universe. This consciousness is beyond our perception, yet it is what makes us who we are.

Bhairava is the destroyer of ignorance and, by surrendering to this universal consciousness, we too can be one with it. In this heightened state of awareness, we become receptive to knowledge and experience a profound connection with the universe.

Science of Consciousness

Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is widely regarded as one of the most talked-about works in the literary world, attracting authors who have penned their own commentaries.

It features conversations between Shiva and Devi. Shiva seeks to address some of the profound questions that Devi poses, including the very nature of the Divine, which is often referred to as the supreme intelligence.

Lord Shiva's response includes a comprehensive list of 112 methods for attaining a universal and transcendent state of consciousness. These techniques encompass a range of practices such as breath awareness, concentration on different bodily centers, non-dual awareness, chanting, imaginative visualization, and contemplation.

Our purpose for being on this planet is to comprehend this profound truth and ultimately, to return to the source from which we originated. This is how we can leave behind the cyclical pattern of birth and death known as samsara.

Vigyan Bhairav Tantra For Modern Seekers

Each of the 112 meditations within Vigyan Bhairav Tantra contains methods for exploring consciousness.

Though, due to the nature of the meditations, it is not recommended for seekers to explore them without the guidance of a spiritual advisor.
