We compromise the essence of our very beings when we give into envy. It robs us of the experience of growing more within ourselves and stalls progress right in its tracks. 

Simply put, comparing yourself to others is a surefire way to feel inadequate. 

It’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing and feel like you’re not measuring up. But the truth is, everyone has their own path, and success looks a lot different for everyone. It’s not a fair assessment to measure your success against another person. We can’t be sure what they’ve been through to get there, and we’ll never recreate their journey. 

Instead of focusing on what others are doing, remember that you’re capable of achieving your dreams and goals. Don’t discount where you’re going and where you’ve been by getting caught up in how you perceive another person's achievements.

Celebrate the small victories along your journey and recognize that progress takes time. 


Evaluate What You Prioritize

Sometimes, we get so caught up in what we think we should be doing that we lose sight of what truly matters to us.

It’s hard to see the smoke when you’re standing in the fire. Chasing after societal pressures of success or wealth won’t necessarily make you happier when you reach those material objects or reach that special status (in fact, Goddess Lakshmi would inspire you to release the need to strive and manifest abundance by being more fluid).

Invest in your authentic self. Take some time to reflect on what’s important in your life, and make sure that you’re aligning your actions with your values.

If you’re feeling behind in your career, for example, ask yourself if you truly enjoy what you’re doing or if you’re just doing it because you think it’s the “right” thing to do. If you’re feeling behind in your personal life, think about what kind of relationships you want to have and if you’re investing enough time and energy into them.


Start A Meditation Practice

Meditation is a magical tool for clarity and peace of mind. When we’re feeling behind in life, it’s easy to get caught up in our own thoughts and anxieties. Meditation helps us step back from our thoughts and gain perspective.

Don’t be afraid to leave old friends in the past when you’re working through transformation. If you find they aren’t supportive or turn out to be unhealthy for your growth, it is unfair to you to hold onto relationships that aren’t serving you.
